Katrin Scrunchie (Katrin Hårelastik) is a hair elastic made with the same pattern as Katrin Luffer, and both patterns are inspired by one of the many traditional Faroese patterns, which can be found in the book Færøske Strikkemønster (Original title: Føroysk Bindingarmynstur) by Hans M. Debes (1932). Katrin Scrunchie is the successor to Knitlidt's Katrin series. The elastic holds the hair well in place, as it also has an elastic inside. The end is what makes the pattern more difficult if you choose to make a knitted end around the elastic.

Knitting tension (after washing and block) : 34 stitches x 33 rows pattern knit on 3 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm

Recommended needles: Circular needle 3 mm (min. 60 cm if using Magic-Loop technique ) and circular needle 2.5 mm (min. 60 cm) or double pointed needles 3 mm, and possibly needle 5 or 6 mm as an auxiliary needle for closing the hair elastic

Additional materials: Strong hair elastic approx. 1 cm wide (see example on page 5)
